Aurelio Buchwalder was born in 1987 in Arlesheim, Switzerland. In 2008 he did an internship in video production and started his studies at the ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts), specializing in cinematography. In 2013 he completed his Bachelor in Film and in 2019 he gained his Master's degree at the ZHdK with his first feature documentary ISOLA. For the film Wandelzeit (2014) he received the Cinematography Award at the International Short Film Festival in Winterthur. His documentaries Schwemmgut (short, 2016) and ISOLA (2019) premiered at the Visions du Réel in Nyon.
