Amy Jenkins, an American multi-disciplinary artist, was awarded the 2019 “Ewing Award for Interdisciplinary Art”, and the 2018 New Hampshire Film Festival “Filmmaker of the Year.” She is also a recent Robert Flaherty Film Seminar Fellow. Her artworks, which focus on themes such as familial relationships, desire, and gender identity, have been shown at museums including MoMA, NY; National Gallery of Art, DC; Haifa Museum, Israel; Oberösterreichisches Landesmuseum, Linz, Austria; Akron Art Museum, Ohio; and Palm Beach ICA, FL. Jenkins’ first documentary feature, INSTRUCTIONS ON PARTING, premiered at MoMA Doc Fortnight 2018 and won Best Feature Documentary at Athens International Film and Video Festival, OH. Her short film WISHES premiered at the Camden International Film Festival in 2019, and screened at festivals including Salem, Ashland Independent, Frameline, OutfestLA, Sidewalk, NewFest, New Orleans, among others. Jenkins’ doc-in-progress, the feature ADAM’S APPLE, is a collaborative project with her teenage transgender son. Supported by LEF Foundation, Points North Institute, Perspective Fund, Center for Independent Documentary, and IFP, the documentary is in production, with a projected premiere of 2023. Jenkins’ artwork has been reviewed in many publications, including The New York Times, ARTnews, Bomb, Artcritical, Performing Arts Journal, and The Village Voice.
