Nidal Hassan is an independent Syrian director, who was arrested twice during the making of True Stories of Love, Life, Death and Sometimes Revolution. He was one of several directors dismissed from the Syrian National Film Organization for supporting the Syrian uprising. Hassan’s filmography includes several feature and documentary films such as Joy, Everyday Story and Flint Mountain. His debut Salty Skin (2003) is considered to be a cornerstone in independent Syrian cinema.
